Read Day

LO3: Egypt remained out of war and known society for thousands of years unlike Mesopotamia, who was in war and was very known by society. Pharaohs ruled Egypt. There stability was broken into Kingdoms. They had pyramids as well, and they thought these connected them with their gods. They developed hieroglyphs and were very smart in astronomy and medicine. It is divided into two lands, and the Nile River sometimes helped them with their civilizations and somethings wouldn't because it would flood. The women would get pregnant because a god would want her pregnant and she would also give birth to a god. They knew germs did not come from demons going inside your body, they understood that an infection or sickness was something wrong with your immune system. A lot of them became surguns and they would operate on peoples bodies. The Pharaohs would have a ton of responsibility and power. It was up to the Pharaoh to make sure confusion or war, or anything negative would stay under control or would not happen. A Pharaoh was from the son god Re when he is just born. When he reaches his succession he becomes under the incarnation god Horus. When he died he would become one with Osiris who was the Pharaoh of the underworld. They believed in incarnation, and when you did something bad a god would punish you, or you would go to the underworld and never come back as an animal.

Book reading

The people made villages and civilizations. They spread outward toward Europe. About 3500 B.C. several thousand years after the Agricultural Revolution began and Mesopotamia already had crops growing and very prosperous land. Summer was a land of rivers and swamps with little rainfall, and to live there, the local farmers relied on irrigation. What began the rise to civilization was a change in the local climate, which became slightly colder and drier about 3500 B.C. High ranking women came to occupy many of the positions of command over lower-ranking man that they would fill in later civilized societies, but the upper ranks had their own forms of inequity that also had a long history ahead of them. As the Sumerian civilization grew they made gods and goddesses  they were holy, inspiring love and fear in humans because there was nothing that did not depend on them such as storms and war and abundance of fields.

First day

Today in West Civ class Mr. schick taught us how to create our blogs. They are pretty much like the same thing as the human Geo one. We have to do pages in our workbook an write down notes and then analyzing it based on what we learned last year.

The book assignment:

Throughout the time when people used stones people would live as hunters and gatherers. they would form their own groups of people so that they could protect themselves and family. men would be responsible for making tools and hunting down the food to kill, most of their food was from plants and that was womens responsibility to gather food. They went through a Agriculture revolution where they started to farm and domesticate animals, this caused a increase of food an population. The first animal to get domesticated was a dog and the men used them to help them hunt. In 6000 B.C. the first village appeared in south Asia. They started having civilizations where they lived in homes with their families and stored food with them. I think Jared Diamond was right about having geographical luck because a lot of the people that moved forward with civilizing and making towns and communities where in different parts of the world unlike New Guinea. they had to have food that was store able.
